Moving an existing site

How a move works

If your site is already hosted elsewhere, moving it takes four steps.

  1. Review We look at what runs today, which versions and what it depends on.
  2. Copy We set up a copy on the new host and test it before anything changes.
  3. Verify Forms, payments and email are all checked before the DNS is switched.
  4. Watch We stay on it for the first days, while the DNS change finishes propagating.

Frequently asked questions

Will my site go down during the move?

The aim is that it does not go down at all. The copy is built and tested before the DNS changes, so the switch happens when everything already works on the new host.

Do I have to host with you for you to build my site?

No. We can work on your own provider. Managed hosting is an option for anyone who would rather not deal with updates and backups.

How often do you take backups?

Regularly and automatically, at a frequency set by how much your site changes — a shop taking orders daily does not have the same needs as a company page.

Can I keep my domain?

Yes, and we recommend it. The domain stays yours; you either transfer it to us or we simply change where it points.

What if I want to leave?

We give you a full copy of the files and database and help with the move. We hold nothing hostage.
